How to use this calculator

Example calculation

A 10 m long, 2.5 m high wall (25 m²) built with standard 22 × 10.5 × 7 cm bricks needs about 1,623 bricks and roughly 0.41 m³ of mortar (about 7 bags of 25 kg cement).

Frequently asked questions

How many bricks per square metre?

About 60–65 standard bricks per m² for a single-skin wall, or 120–130 for a double-skin wall.

How much mortar do I need for bricklaying?

Roughly 0.016 m³ of mortar per square metre of single-skin wall — double it for a double-leaf wall.

What mortar mix should I use?

A 1:5 cement-to-sand mix is standard for general bricklaying; use 1:3 for heavily loaded or exposed walls.

Should I add extra bricks for breakages?

Yes — order 5–10% extra bricks to cover cuts, breakages and future repairs.
